Mary Renee Pohl, age 78, of Westphalia passed away on Friday, March 22, 2024. She was a loving friend, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. Family, friends, fellowship, and faith were constants throughout Mary’s life. She loved playing cards, games and most importantly enjoying the laughter and conversations that resulted from who she was spending time with. Her stories, sense of humor and sharp wit were well-known by all who knew and loved her. She enjoyed music, supporting the local schools, reading and always had a stack of books at the ready to choose from next. Most of all, Mary loved spending time and being surrounded with the people, friends, family and loved ones in her life.
Mary retired from working at Ingham County Community Mental Health in 2010 and was married to her husband, Dennis for 42 years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Westphalia and Christian Mother’s Society. Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Dennis; son, Bradley; her parents, Anthony and Mary Agnes Kuntz, brother, Norbert Kuntz; sister-in-law, Colleen Kuntz, niece, Rachael Watson-Zell and nephew, Jack Kuntz. Mary is survived by her daughter, Lisa (Ronald) Johnson of Westfield, Indiana; grandchildren, Nathaniel and Celeste Johnson; siblings, Vincent (Marie) Kuntz, Elaine Kuntz, Quentin Kuntz, Maggie (Mike) Watson and sister-in-law, Sue Kuntz, along with many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Mary’s in home care givers in recent years, the staff at StoryPoint Assisted Living of Grand Ledge and to CorsoCare Hospice for the care and compassion given to Mary.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2024 with Fr. Eric Weber at St. Mary’s Church in Westphalia. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm on Tuesday for a visitation at the St. Mary’s Funeral Chapel, 210 N Westphalia Street, Westphalia.
